When one of your supplied microchips is implanted, Microchip Connect recognises its recorded supply provenance and looks to register it, together with its paired Smart Tag, first with the database associated with your supply allocation.
How the Complete Process Works
Supply & Allocation
Your microchip allocation is recorded with the receiving practice and associated database.
Microchip Supplied
Your company supplies an individual microchip or batch of microchips, each with its paired Smart Tag, to a veterinary practice.
Allocation Sent
Your system sends the microchip number, paired Smart Tag, batch or range and receiving veterinary practice to Microchip Connect.
Allocation Recorded
Microchip Connect records the complete microchip identifier, its paired Smart Tag, supplying company, receiving practice and associated database.
Implantation & Recognition
The implanted microchip is recognised and matched to its recorded supply provenance.
Microchip Implanted
The veterinary practice implants the individual microchip and records it in the pet's clinical record.
Microchip Recognised
Microchip Connect recognises the exact 15-digit microchip number.
Supply Provenance Matched
Microchip Connect matches the microchip against its existing supply allocation and identifies the company that supplied it.
Registration
Registration data is transmitted to the database associated with the microchip's allocation.
Associated Database Identified
Microchip Connect identifies the database associated with that individual microchip's recorded supply allocation.
Registration Transmitted
Keeper, pet, microchip, paired Smart Tag and implantation information can be securely transmitted to that database.
Customer Acceptance
Where required by the Microchip Database, the keeper receives the appropriate electronic registration acceptance request.
Completion
The keeper accepts where required and the registration is completed on the database.
Customer Accepts
The keeper electronically confirms the registration where required by the destination database.
Account Created or Updated
The Microchip Database creates the customer's account or adds the new pet and microchip to an existing account according to its own workflow.
Microchip Registered
The registration is completed and the resulting registration status can be returned to Microchip Connect. The paired Smart Tag can then be offered to the keeper for activation now or later.
